Question by Do You Understand:

Why can churches of all types hide their desire for sex with children and still their followers believe them?

It is clear that the faithful of most religions send their children to religious instructions knowing that they have the potential of being sexually molested by their religious leaders. Shouldn't parents have their children attend sex education classes before religious instruction classes to make them safe. Save your child a life of agony. I would be interested in your comments.
Data is now available about all religions and it seems that religions draw the child molester type of person to a position of authority. Almost all religions have been hiding behind their lawyers and now parents are seeking the truth behind the legal barriers that are designed to hide the molester so they can move to a new parish to seek new children - why do you still follow when your children can be damaged and hurt for life?
Raptor, the question is anything but a cheap shot. It is a logical thoughtful question from a man who has had his male cousin sexually abused for years and then the family and the church hide the results of their litigation and left this supposedly religious man stay in the same area he was in and continued to molest children. A church supposedly has more moral authority than the boy scouts or the little league and they represent a organization that can control, dismiss and punish child molesters and have often only moved them from location to location unless the publicity becomes too much. You might not know it but a religion has much more power over children than the little league.

My question is a series question unlike your defensive response. Why don’t we have our children go to sex education classes long before they attend church? A simple question Raptor and it has a logical and reasonable answer.

Because they truly believe that God will stop those men and women who abuse. They believe that their faith will heal them. To doubt that would mean they were doubting God.
Where they wrong? Yes. Do I understand why they did it? Yes. Should they be punished? Yes.
But I really think a great many of them really believed that God would "fix them".
